Biography

Howdy! Just a quick note to let you know a bit about me, in case you’re curious (c’mon, you clicked on the link). My mom was a piano teacher, who insisted each of her kids learn a musical instrument and sing in the choir. No problem! I LOVED choir and piano, except when I’d get called out for singing with the tenors or playing by ear (mom you always knew my weakness for mimicry). Guess we shoulda known I’d turn into a diva, when at age 4 I proudly pointed out how I sang louder than the entire kids’ choir (NOT a selling point for our saintly choir director at that time, Mrs. Wormly). I wrote my first song at the piano before kindergarten, though at that time I could not name the key or time signature. My mom, ever the instructor, said this meant it did not count at a verifiable song…merely a tune. Oh well, many years and tunes later, I joined my first band as a back-up singer and general roadie/band booster. It took a few years more, before I worked up the courage to front a band and actually introduce my own compositions…even more years before I felt confident enough to face the audience when singing and defend said arrangements to band mates with differing musical visions.

So here I am five bands, one broken neck, a politically based physical assault and a year of independent touring later and I am officially one tough piece of leather. I know my strengths and weaknesses (a little too familiar with the later), the difference between soft and hardcore porn (touring with men does have its instructive side) have a loving husband, several furry side-kicks (not to mention a whole pet-cemetery on the property…six pours for my homies), wonderful friends and a new partnership with my ex-Boondoggle members Jeremy and Darren. The songs we’re working on may speak to the cynicism and bitterness that comes with some of these life experiences, but underlying every song is the same hope that I assume kept ole cowpokes warm as they bedded down on the long, dusty trail. A wonder of the beautiful Rocky Mountains we live in and the painful joy of waking up to fight another day.

I hope as we add songs to this web-site and work on our album, that you’ll come back to visit us often.
